I recently turned the Big 5-0 ! It was so much fun planning and decorating and I wanted to share my tips and tricks! I’m hoping to inspire you to have a Kate Spade 50th Birthday Party!
We opted to have a small celebration for family and only a few friends in our home.

Party Decor
- I purchased most of the party supplies from Party City and a few items from Amazon.
- For instance, I bought the striped canvas flower backdrop from Amazon. It was just the right size and fit my theme perfectly.
- I always try to use the backdrop as the focal point for all of my party decor! Its the starting point to bringing the whole room together. It is also an inexpensive way to add decor simply and easily.
- I chose to embellish the backdrop with 50 themed decorations I found at Party City.
Birthday Party Table Decor
Plastic tablecloths, napkins, paper plates were all from Party City. I love choosing a theme when I decorate for a party!
And when I pick the theme, I like to match the theme with matching plates, table cloths and napkins. It is such an inexpensive way to add decor to the table.
Table Settings
- I always start out my table settings with chargers and these can be purchased inexpensively at dollar stores. I always try to purchase a neutral color so it can be used over and over again for other celebrations.
- For table settings, I used gold chargers and the plates with the napkins.
- I also purchased a digital file from ETSY that matched my theme.
- I had Hershey candy bar wrappers printed at my local printers on shiny paper that I hot glued to the chocolate bar.
I also ordered a digital file on ETSY for water bottle labels with my theme as well. I emailed to my printers and they printed out on label paper for me and I removed the old label and placed on water bottle.
Centerpieces
The centerpieces were super easy to make!
- I started by chalk painting the mason jars with a gold color ; you can use any paint you have on hand.
- Then I used mod podge to cover the jar and then applied liberal amounts of gold glitter.
- I let that dry and then sprayed the jars with hair spray to set the glitter and so the glitter doesn’t just fall off!
- I used striped ribbon along with some satin hot pink ribbon and hot glued them together.
- I put some hot pink roses in the vase and added some gold numbered cardstock picks I found at Party City.
- I always love to add fresh flowers! I found these beauties at Costco which is another inexpensive way to add beauty to the table !
Flower Wall
I installed a paper flower wall in the corner! Love how it turned out and goes with my theme so amazing!
Dessert Table
Kate Spade 50th Birthday Cake
The cake I ordered from my baker matched my theme exactly and I was so happy with the way it turned out!
Kate Spade 50th Birthday Cookies
The cookies turned out adorable! They matched my theme so perfectly and they tasted amazing as well!
Kate Spade 50th Birthday Cake
Had such a fun time with figuring out what kind of cake to have! I searched Pinterest for ideas. Sadly I forgot to add a few roses to the side of the cake!
That’s one of the challenges when planning and executing your own event, it seems something gets missed in the rush! My baker did an amazing job and it was so delicious!
I am always sure to add the small cocktail napkins to the cake table. These I picked up at Party City to match my theme!
I always add the small paper plates to the cake table as well.
Kate Spade Balloon Bouquet
I also like to make a helium bouquet of balloons. I got this set of balloons from Party City which matches the theme perfectly. Party City also blow up the balloons with helium right in their store.
I usually buy the balloons ahead of time and then a day or two before the party, I bring them into the store to have them filled.
50th Birthday Milestone Board
This was so fun! I bought a digital file on ETSY that was easily personalized to my birthday.
It’s a milestone board of sorts that lists what was popular when you were born. Such a fun addition to the decor and the party!
Birthday Gift Table
For the gift table, I kept it simple and added a set of gold 5-0 numbers I got at Party City !
I had such a great time planning my 50th Birthday, I sure hope it inspires you to plan yours! Comment and let me know!
