The year after we got married we bought our first and forever home! We knew we would be raising our kids in this home and so we wanted to commemorate the occasion by having a Housewarming Party with all of our family and close friends.
The purpose of this post is to inspire you if you are planning to have a Housewarming Party and just how easy it can be!
I wanted the celebration to be simple and elegant and I think that’s exactly what I achieved!
Open House
I decided on very easy finger foods for the Open House. I opted to buy trays of vegetables and dip and fruit and dip, chips and salsa.
Simple and Easy Food Ideas
We chose to keep the afternoon as an Open House style gathering where people could arrive and leave during the hours of the event. This worked out great as there was no pressure or stress on either end.
- I opted to do a simple dessert table and I always recommend you use any trays or display items you already have on hand in order to save on costs.
- I had some of these items left over from our wedding the year before. The cake stand was also from our wedding.
- I purchased the mirrors and the HOME letters from my local Dollar Tree.
- I also found the napkins at the dollar store. I had the apothecary jars from our wedding candy bar and decided they looked adorable on the table.
- I also went on Google and was able to find the free signs and simply printed them off on cardstock and slid them in the frames for display.
Cupcakes
The cupcakes I made myself and HERE is my blog post I did that will help you with a simple cupcake and frosting recipe.
I also wanted inexpensive cupcake toppers so I found some free ones on Google and cut them into square shapes and hot glued them onto straws for stems.
Easy Table Decor
Isn’t this decor idea so pretty? So simple. Mirrors and the HOME letters I purchased at the Dollar Tree!
DIY Signage
I was able to find free signs for the table off of Google and the signs added simple inexpensive decor to the table.
Candy Jars
Simple apothecary jars left over from our wedding and some candy I found at the Dollar Tree as well.
Simple Frame
I found this sign on Google and printed it off on my home computer and put it in this frame I already had on hand!
I love to repurpose items around my home that I can use for events so I am not spending a lot on the decorations.
I found the black candle in the Halloween section at the Dollar Tree!
Always thinking of ways I can use what I have on hand. Its fun to re-purpose and saves money! Win. Win.
Juice Station
- I always love to do a simple punch station. These glass dispensers I was able to find on Christmas clearance and the style is definitely not Christmas!
- I always suggest people try to use what they can find for free or re-purpose items they used for a previous event.
- I found the frame and the cute glass jars at the Dollar Tree. I also found the cut outs for free on Google and printed on light cardstock and cut out and applied with hot glue.
- I think they turned out so cute!
Guest Favors
The guest favors I chose were very simple and easy!
I went to my local Dollar store and bought these cute individual candles! Just the perfect size to hand out to guests as they left our home!
I also found an adorable sign off of Google, placed them in a small basket at the door for guests to take on their way out!
I hope you enjoyed my decor tips and by all means, leave me a comment about your housewarming! I would love to hear from you.
