My husband turned 50 recently and I had a blast planning his birthday party!
I’m hoping some of the decorative design ideas will inspire your next birthday party!
The decorations were super easy! I went to PartyCity; and was able to find most of the party decor!

Guest Table
Centerpieces
I went super simple with the centerpieces. I always love to add a centerpiece as it grounds the table and gives it a focal point.
- I bought tall mason jars and painted them with silver metallic paint and gave them a quick distress with sandpaper.
- I cut out some decals on my Cricut and added them to cardstock
- I cut out; hot glued to a stick;
- I also cut out ties and hot glued them to the front and voila, instant centerpieces.
Dessert Table
For the dessert table, I used our dining room buffet. I used cake risers I already owned. One for the cake and one for the cookies and a simple cupcake stand.
I always add the small napkins to the dessert table along with the smaller plates which are the perfect size for the dessert.
Cake
I went with a simple vanilla buttercream cake and nothing fancy for the design. I added some dollar store 5-0 candles and cut out a cake topper on my Cricut for the top. I was very pleased with the outcome!
Cookies
Aren’t these cookies adorable ?!!! I always get a set of a dozen personalized cookies when I do a party. It just adds a personalized element and some fun to the decor!
Cupcakes
I also love to whip up a dozen cupcakes for the dessert table. They are so easy and fun to make.
Here is my cupcake recipe with frosting HERE; if you are interested in making a dozen for your next event!
The cupcake toppers and wrappers I found at PartyCity. I added a little extra by hot gluing some of the cutouts to the front of the wrappers. So fun!
Beer Mug
I also made a simple beer mug for my husband’s spot at the table. I found the beer mug at the dollar store and used some fun permanent vinyl and cut out the design on my Cricut.
Drink Station
For the punch station, I just hot glued one of the cutouts to some ribbon and added cups and straws I got from the dollar store and a few napkins!
I also went super simple with the punch recipe. In fact, all it is is white cranberry juice! I love doing this as its a neutral color and most people enjoy fresh cold juice !
Selfie Wall
I also added a selfie wall. I tacked up the selfie backdrop in our hallway. I found this one at Party City !
I simply grabbed a small nesting table and added the selfie props and some horns and it was a big hit !
Balloon Bouquet
I always get a bunch of balloons that match the theme and place them in the corner of the room for photo opportunities as well.
I had a sign made that listed out what was popular in the year he was born. I ordered the design on Etsy and I had it sent to my local printers for printing. It was a nice surprise for my husband!
Beer Cake
I was so happy with how the beer cake turned out!
- I purchased some of his favorite beers.
- I had personalized labels made for him on ETSY and I sent them to the printers for printing on sticky label paper.
- I found some cake boards at the dollar store and added the beers to the plates and a centerpiece from PartyCity on the top.
The labels for the beer turned out so amazing and added extra details to the presentation. The labels were able to be placed directly over the original beer label. So easy!
Gift Table
I also made a simple gift table using one of my nesting tables and simply added a small personalized sign I had made on ETSY. It chronicles what was popular in 1970!
I also made my husband a simple 1970 T-shirt! I bought the design on ETSY; cut out the design on my Cricut and voila!
