I had so much fun planning and decorating my youngest son’s angel themed nursery!

Angel Nursery Theme
I chose this nursery theme as my youngest son is my angel and my prayers were answered from above. We had a long infertility journey of over 10 years and I always dreamed of having 2 children but the odds were stacked against us due to age and how long we had been trying. But thanks to modern medicine and a little luck, we had our second son! I knew right away I wanted an Angel nursery theme!
Grey Nursery Furniture
I was on the hunt for the perfect grey furniture for the room! I was sure I wanted a light vintage baby blue and I paired it with a rustic grey and the results are just beautiful!
His crib was purchased from Walmart and is absolutely my dream crib! The brand is Evolur Cheyenne 5-in-1 Full Panel Convertible Crib, Model #88261.
I also found the most beautiful baby blue braided crib bumper in a velour material off of Etsy! Handmade beautiful bumper is sized at 110″ long to sit around the inside of the crib as pictured!
I also purchased a baby blue crib skirt which hangs at the bottom of the crib. I found this one on Amazon if you are interested, you can find it here!
I also had specially made 3 hanging bows with his monogram stitched on it. Just beautiful work that was handmade on Etsy!
I also had a beautiful baby blue blanket hand made with my son’s name embroidered on the blanket. I also had it custom made by adding the angel wings to his name as well. I had the blanket made on Etsy.
I found this beautiful vintage dresser on the Buy and Sell and instantly knew this was the dresser. I wanted a high boy style as I think those are the perfect style for a boy. High boys also take up less space than a traditional long dresser would.
I was happy with the dresser but definitley had it in my mind that I wanted to add some furniture transfers to the dresser and I think it was the right decision as the dresser became even cuter with the animals added onto it!
If you are interested, this is the transfer set I used on the dresser.
I also moved the large armoire from my older son’s room as well into new baby’s nursery. I would highly recommend an armoire for extra storage! I love the vintage feel to the armoire and I am so very happy I was able to use it in the new baby’s room. I bought the armoire as a painted cream color and I added the gold accents and painted it out in baby blue chalk paint. If you are interested in the beautiful gold color paint I used, you can find it here.

Storage
Storage solutions for the nursery were super easy! I found an array of gray colored storage containers at my local dollar stores! So inexpensive and I love to organize all of the baby’s items in baskets. I used baskets for his socks, burp cloths, receiving blankets, washcloths, shoes, bibs and bigger sized clothes. I also used a few at the change table station for lotions and butt creams and bubble bath.
For closet organization, I used more dollar store baskets and I also added a hanging divider organizer as well as large tupperware containers for bigger clothes sizes.
Change Table and Accessories
I had a change table I had used in my older son’s nursery and when I set up baby’s room, I moved the change table into baby’s room. I did a simple makeover on the change table and you can find the full makeover here.
I also added the Ubbi Diaper pail to my change table area and its a diaper pail I would completely recommend if you are looking for a quality diaper pail!
Yes! Don’t forget the Lionheart wipes warmer! I know it seems frivilous but it was so nice to have in the early newborn days for middle of the night changes to reach over and have a nice warm wipe for baby! I loved having the wipes warmer!
Angel Nursery Decor
I strategically placed a few items with the angel theme in mind. I wanted to do this sparingly and to not over-run the nursery with angel themed decor. I found some large tin angel wings at Michaels craft store and they were originally brass colored and I painted them with baby blue chalk paint. I also found some wings that I have sitting on his bookcase that I did the same thing with. Painted them out in baby blue chalk paint. All of the photography in the room is angel wing inspired. I also have a few angel baby figurines I have placed on the top of his dresser.
Faux Shiplap Feature Wall
I had a wall in the nursery that I needed to cover! I used the nursery room for a guest space before we had our baby and while I loved the stenciling on the walls, it sure wasn’t going to fit the theme of my son’s new nursery!
I had a few issues with this damask stenciling in that it was raised stencil with a gold paint and it definitley would have to be sanded down in order for it to be covered with new paint or wall paper. So installing panelling over the wall was the answer!
I searched for a way to make a feature accent wall the easiest and cheapest way I possibly could. With having a toddler and a new baby, there was limited time to design the room.
I went to my local building centre and I found faux shiplap panelling sheets! The best invention ever!
Constructing a shiplap wall is quite difficult if you do not have the time and money to dedicate to it. The sheets are amazing as they are cost effective and easy to install. All you need is a Ryobi nail gun and a miter saw to cut the sheets to fit your wall. If your wall is uneven, its the perfect way to hide those imperfections.
I have a full tutorial post that explains the process and how I installed the wall if you are interested here!
Window Treatments
In my opinion, window treatments make a huge difference to the look and feel of a room! The curtains frame the room, make it cozy and also add a nice way to add a pop of color.
There are 2 sets of windows in my room to deal with. The large main windows I needed two panels to cover. I also chose a fairly substantial curtain rod with a stainless steel feel to it to compliment the color scheme.
I always like to measure my windows with the idea in mind that I would like the curtains to fall to the ground and not spill all over the floor as that look tends to make the room look sloppy. Having your curtains sit just on the carpet is the goal. I also had a small corner window to dress as well. I made sure to pick a smaller version of the larger curtain rod so it compliments the main window.
I also wanted to add some interest by installing a curtain hook to hold the curtain up. I only needed one panel for this window. Since this room is a nursery, I definitely needed black out curtains. These curtains were so amazing and I cannot believe the value for the price! These curtains look and feel like expensive linen material and they are in fact a polyester blend. If you are interested in these curtains, I have a link here to take you to the curtains I purchased.
Book Case Makeover
I had an old cheap bookcase in dark cherry wood that definitely did not fit the style of the room! I opted to paint the book case in the baby blue chalk paint I used on the rest of the room and it came out darling!
I really enjoyed picking the books for his bookcase. I was recently given all of my child hood books from my parents. Old and tattered, but fit right into the new vintage nursery theme. Loving the smell of the old books and reminiscing about reading those books when I was a child.
Side Table Makeover
I also wanted to be able to have a large enough bed side table so that it could work well for storage of books but also work well for the future when the room is made over into a big boy bedroom.
Here is a link to the full before and after transformation on the baby blue side table with chalk paint.
Lamp Makeover
I wanted to find a traditional style lamp for the room. I prefer to have something that will stand the test of time and I can use when my baby is older. I found a simple lamp with a brushed stainless steel bottom on it and that also had good electrical cords on it as well. I was able to clean it up and paint it out with some of the baby blue chalk paint I had used in the rest of the room.
Angel Themed Photography
I chose to have my maternity photos in the same theme as the nursery in an angel theme so I could have the photos printed on canvas and displayed in the nursery. It is such a shame to have beautiful maternity photos and not have them displayed.
I hope you enjoyed my angel themed nursery ! I would love to see photos of your nursery if you would like to share!
