When we bought our house, there was a small room/den like space with no window or closet, so I thought right away that it would make a perfect craft room and office combination space.
Firstly I had built in cabinetry and a counter top installed in the room on the back wall to house all my storage and some open cabinetry to display some photos and momentos.
Room Design
I added a white leather office chair and a faux fur rug from IKEA.
I also knew I wanted a fancy feminine chandelier for the space and I headed to Home Depot and was able to find one for under $100!
Storage Solutions
I personalized my space with photos of our engagement, which was…..oh boy 12 years ago now! So much fun to add personal touches to the space. I also added a storage solution for my stickers and brads and stamps for my scrapbooking supplies.
I also found some old antique milk glass containers and not all of them were in good shape and nor were they white! So chalk paint to he rescue and they look amazing to hold all my odds and ends and my glitter.
I found this small skinny display cabinet at Target one day and thought it would be perfect in my small room. I think this is actually bathroom storage for towels and linens! The bottom has a cabinet for storage which I store all my scrapbook albums in.
Open Shelving
I wanted some open shelving on this wall and found some old corbell type decor items in my storage unit. Back in the day they were used to hang a swag of curtains on! Very outdated but still pretty items so I painted over them with my white chalk paint and voila, they turned into amazing shelf holders.
I then purchased some shelving pieces from my local hardware store and had my husband install the corbels and add the shelves to the top. I think they turned out amazing !
Paint Storage
This piece of furniture is actually a lingerie chest! When I first saw it, instantly I thought about my paint storage! Sometimes its fun to repurpose old furniture.
I have my acrylic paints stored in this chest and it looks so pretty!
DIY Signage
I also Googled signs for craft rooms and found this one. Its so pretty and just my style. I printed it out on my home computer on card stock and put it in this frame I found at IKEA.
The long skinny table I have here is actually a sofa table that goes behind a sofa. It is such a great piece for this room as the room is quite small, so a skinny table works amazing in here!
So much fun here to find some black and white signs I could print out on cardstock for my frames.
- I styled this table with old frames I found at flea markets and garage sales and took some white chalk paint and painted them up!
- I got some faux pearls from the dollar store and displayed them on the frames as I stacked them largest to smallest on my vingette.
- I think I purchased the bird cage from Michaels and added a satin bow to the top!
- I also found the fun frame from IKEA; its actually plastic! And I painted it with my white chalk paint.
- Of course I had to add a decorative element to the frame, so I found some old wallpaper I had in storage and used that to fill the frame with a damask pattern inexpensively!
