DIY Party Decor Basic Tips!
DIY Party Decor is a great way to save money on party decor and it is so fun to get involved and make your own DIY Party Decor! If you are hosting a bbq, birthday party, baby shower, bridal shower, there are so many free resources for your party decor right on Pinterest!
Download the app on your smartphone and search at the top for “free party decor”. You would be amazed at how much pops up for you! The first step for me when planning a party is to head to Pinterest! I’m all about free resources and saving time and money.
I always search for “free” printables and there are so many graphics and free party resources that will come up for you. In fact, it can get overwhelming with the choices!
Printables for DIY Party Decor
- I always print out free DIY party decor printables for cupcake toppers, party welcome signs, any of the free resources I can find, even checklists to keep me organized for the event, I will download and print out.
- Then I make a copy of the image and download it to my iPhone app called “Pic Monkey” and in that iPhone app, I can personalize a welcome sign by adding the person’s name. Honestly, I love doing that as it just adds a little extra something to the party and who doesn’t love to see their name on the welcome sign! You also didn’t have to spend hours trying to design something for yourself.
- If you have a bigger budget, you can go to Etsy and search for party printable packages and you can purchase these digitally and then download them on your phone and take them to places like Costco to have signs, banners and all kinds of party decor printed out at reasonable prices. I have done this for several parties I have hosted over the years.
Personalization
- I’ve also personalized DIY party decor with my Cricut machine and some vinyl for signs and I’ve even personalized party balloons with vinyl! SO much fun and the ideas are endless when it comes to party planning.
- I always make sure I hit up my Dollar Tree for inexpensive ideas for centerpieces, florals, and don’t forget, get all of your paper plates, cups, table cloths from there. If I’m doing a little fancier party, I will usually go to Party City as well as they have really reasonable party supplies and I love buying my party supplies in themes. There is no way I could make the signs and decor that they carry for some of the cheap prices they have for party items.
- Lastly, if you have a party rentals business in your area, its always a good idea to check them out as well. You just never know what you can rent for an affordable price, after all, you are usually only using it once!
Tips for when the Party is over
Also, after the party is over and I have an abundance of DIY party decor, I normally post nice party photos on Facebook Marketplace and sell the party decor as a lot for a reasonable price for someone else to use! Why not, it’s a good deal for you to get rid of the party decor you will likely not use again and for someone else to have ready-made decor at their fingertips!
Unless you are like me, I planned and hosted 3 baby showers, so I just kept reusing items I did not use from the first party and just added a few more items for the next one! Definitely, it’s a great way to save money!
