There are sooooo many surfaces you can use chalk paint with! So many home decor items I have painted over the years I couldn’t even remember how many!
So I thought I would do a post on some of the items I have transformed with chalk paint that are simple little projects and this is the best way to start when you are a beginner and it doesn’t seem so intimidating!

Clocks
This clock was so simple to paint as it already was a dark color and I simply painted it in a light cream chalk style paint called Country Chic in vanilla frosting. I then wiped small sections off with a wet rag to distress it.
Frames
The color of this frame wasn’t matching my new kitchen, so I painted it with some black chalk paint. I also wanted to distress it a bit and love the way it turned out.
Mirrors
I love this mirror! Its from IKEA and its plastic! Its cheap and looks so fancy but you guys, its plastic and paints up so well. That is one of the great things about chalk paint, it can cover just about any surface!
This mirror was a large dated mirror that came with a dresser in a bedroom set. Talk about dated! I painted the mirror with chalk paint and then added furniture transfers!
I cut out a small transfer I had left over from another project and I think it adds a bit of interest to the mirror and definitely updates it in an easy inexpensive way as well! I also love that if I decide I don’t want the transfer on anymore, I can simply carefully scrape it off! I also distressed the mirror lightly as well.
Small Furniture
This was a fun project I did for my kids table and chair set in their play room. Very simple and easy and I love the look of it painted out white!
Such a cute little fun table I found for cheap at a department store but it didn’t quite fit into the room I was designing. A few coats of paint later and it looks so cute. I think if I was to re-do this project, I may have kept the top of the table as it was instead of painting it. So many options!
With the re decorating of our Master Bedroom, I needed to paint my jewelry armoire. Still loved the armoire and love filling it with all my jewelry but the red cherry color needed to go! After painting a few coats of white on it, I distressed it a bit.
Love my beautiful blanket stand but again, it sure didn’t go with my new design ideas for the Master Bedroom. White chalk paint to the rescue!
I applied 3 coats of paint and also decided I wanted to distress the stand as well. I grabbed some 200 grit sand paper and sanded the edges and corners.
I know this makeover is not very exciting ! But it was one of my first painting jobs where I used fabric paint. I learned the hard way that it is best to use fabric paint on fabric and not just straight chalk paint. It also amazes me how using a small amount of chalk paint can transform a piece. This was an old 1970s bar that I bought for my husband on the Buy and Sell and I used fabric paint mixed in with the black chalk paint to paint out the faux leather and it turned out so great! The fabric remained pliable and did not harden over time. It stayed nice and soft to the touch and that is because I used a partial mix of fabric paint with the chalk paint!

Lamps
I made over this lamp for my son’s nursery. This was such a quick and easy project!
I just love how quickly the look of a lamp can go from drab to fab! I painted up this cheap lamp I found on the Marketplace with just a couple of coats of paint. I try to find lamps that are already in good shape with solid cords and that work with no issues. We are just adding paint to change it for the decor. This little lamp I put in my son’s nursery after painting it out in baby blue!
Miscellaneous Items
It becomes a game to try and find the most crazy things to paint in your house!
I painted my baby shoes for my son’s vintage nursery! They painted so nicely and even though I love the vintage aspect, they are very old and definitley needed some sprucing up and chalk paint to the rescue!
This was a really fun project for my Master Bedroom. A beautiful jewelry box but seriously outdated in color and style but I couldn’t part with it! So chalk paint to the rescue. I painted it out in white chalk paint and distressed it but it was still missing a little something!
I decided to use a graphic and transfer it to the box, I have a full tutorial HERE where you can check out how I did this!
This project was super fun too! I found an old vintage suitcase and while I love pink, it just didn’t go with my bedroom suite the way I wanted it to. I was loving all of the images on the sides, but I felt like chalk paint would be the answer. I love the way it turned out and while it was a big change just adding the paint, I also wanted to decorate it up a bit! Check out my full tutorial HERE where I give you step by step instructions on how I added the graphics!
