Chalk paint is so absolutely amazing in the ability to transform objects and in particular, furniture!
Tastes change over time but the budget doesn’t necessarily allow for new furniture and not only that, I love the look of painted furniture becoming more vintage looking than when it started!
For example, these old nesting tables of mine. I bought them probably 20 years ago and while I am not a fan of the cherry wood anymore, I still love the look of the tables and they are still practical for me to use.

Tips for Makeover
When I began the makeover, upon further inspection of the tables, I wasn’t able to repair the 3rd table in the set.
There was too much wear and tear and the smallest table would not stand on its own. So I opted to instead just paint out the 2 remaining tables and I think they turned out just fine! This set I ended up selling on Marketplace and the buyer was happy with just the two tables.
- Although I didn’t take photos of the process, I would always recommend when starting off with shiny cherry red furniture and when wanting to achieve a light finish, to always scuff up the cherry wood with a light sanding block and to use a white primer.
- The white primer I always use is Zinsser white primer. Using a good quality primer will save you having to paint many of the light color coats to achieve the coverage you are wanting.

I found another set of nesting tables on the Marketplace and was very happy with this purchase! Sold wood high quality nesting table set. This set was one I was definitely keeping for myself!
Before
I purchased these from a man whose grandmother had just passed on and he was wanting to sell all the old furniture.
I ended up purchasing many pieces from him and these tables are solid and good quality.
These were a super simple project to do ! I did not need to repair them or use any primer, I just grabbed my chalk paint and brush and painted these! I ended up using 3 coats of the Rustoleum Chalked paint in Chiffon cream.
I also wanted a little distressing on these as well. I used a light sanding block to scuff the edges for a light distress.

These are the tables once I added them to my living room. I have so many uses for these tables and I think the makeover turned out amazing !
