Wedding Cupcakes Recipe
Recently a family friend of ours got married and she did a completely DIY wedding and she asked if I would make her wedding cupcakes and she made the wedding cake.
When we think of weddings, normally we think in order for it to be beautiful, we need to spend a lot of money and that is just not correct!
I will give you some hints and tips to make your beautiful wedding cupcakes with my wedding cupcakes recipe! I was so excited to see how pretty they turned out and it took no time at all!

Supplies I used:
- Wilton 1M piping tip
- Wilton Elegance Cupcake Liners
- Wilton Cupcake Carrier
- I Do Cupcake Picks
- Wilton Disposable Decorating Bag
- Wilton Sugar Pearls, white
- Cupcake Wrapper
- Cricut Cutting Machine
Tip 1
I always buy a boxed cake from the store for my cupcakes, it tastes great and less hassle to just dump a boxed cake into your mixer!
I bought 2 boxes of cake mixes and mixed them up in my mixer and baked them for the required time on the box. 2 boxes make 48 cupcakes.
Tip 2
Then I set them aside to cool and started on my icing recipe (I’ve got another blog post with my stand by icing recipe). I made two batches and put them both together in my large Kitchen Aid glass mixing bowl.
Tip 3 (Icing):
I always grab a tall glass, put my piping bag in it and scoop out some icing to fill the bag. The glass helps the bag to stay open while you fill the bag with icing.
- You also want to make sure your bag is nicely filled, but not filled too much as it can then spill over the top of the bag and make a mess. I use the Wilton reusable piping bags.
- I use a Wilton 1M piping tip. Its the most versatile tip for me to decorate cupcakes with.
- I wanted to make a rose on the top of the cupcake, so I always start in the centre of the cupcake and work my way around.
Tip 4
After I’ve piped the rose on top, I like to add a few sprinkles. These are Wilton Sugar Pearls in white. I love adding a few sugar pearls to the top of the cupcake. A cute, quick, easy way to dress up your cupcake.
Tip 5
- A beautiful way to add extra glam to your cupcakes is to add a cupcake liner decoration. Here I have linked some for your convenience but really there are so many to choose from!
- Alternatively, if you have a Cricut, you can make them yourself. You can also find them at most wedding supply stores or I’ve seen them at Party City as well.
- They are really inexpensive as well. Usually, you can find a package of 12 for $5 or so depending on the store and how fancy you are wanting the design.
Tip 6
- I found these really pretty pink rose ones somewhere in my travels, in fact I think I bought them for my own bridal shower and had some left over!
- I had some pretty white ones as well and mixed them all up and they turned out really pretty.
- I always like to re use what I have on hand or re purpose what I already have in my cupboards to save time and money.
Tip 7
- The last step to making the cupcakes really pretty is by adding a cupcake topper. That is just a round cutout design glued to a stick that you stick in the top of the cupcake.
- These ones are really cute and say “I Do”. I found these super cute ones online and while they are not the exact ones I used, there are so many choices to choose from!
- They are very inexpensive for a package and add just a little extra touch. If you have a Cricut, you can also cut them out on your machine if you wish to personalize them.
Tip 8
- If you are transporting the cupcakes to the venue, you want to make sure that you have the proper cupcake carriers to transport them with or you will end up with smashed cupcakes!
- I had 4 of the Wilton cupcake carriers on hand so it worked out well.
- As well you will want to have some pretty cake stands and cupcake stands to display the cupcakes on the cake table.
- I always add a pretty satin bow to the bottom of the cake stands in the color theme of the event. It just adds a nice extra touch to the decor.
- You can purchase the stands from party supply stores or you sometimes can rent them from a local wedding supply store in your area.
- Also, I always look at Facebook wedding groups to see if there are any of the supplies I am in need of at a reduced price.
